About Me
I develop websites (making me a web developer), I build real-time systems using Node.js and Socket.io, I’ve developed mobile apps for Android, enterprise PHP applications, CMSs and eCommerce websites. Working as a Senior Front-End Developer, I’ve built an online poker website, oh, I also built a large part of its back-end; and built its sister online casino website.
I was Born in 4th December 1992, and lived in Swieqi for a couple of years before moving to Sliema (both towns in Malta). I travel often, enjoy meeting new people, learning more about cultures and other stuff – you know, the usual reasons. Before turning 18, I launched my IT consulting and web software development business at Dazzle Panel. Upon turning 18 years-old, I launched my GPS tracking business and by 23 continued to grow it to DP:Tracking, now tracking hundreds of coaches and vehicles and achieved a B.S.c. (Melit) ICT in CS and AI, and a M.S.c. (herts) Software Engineering. On 2nd April 2016, my father, sadly, passed away. I took over management of his company selling IT hardware and consumables. If that isn’t enough, I also work as a Senior PHP Developer with a lead generation company. I somehow manage to fit it all!
Curious how it all started?
When I was, ugh, I think 12? I became intrigued on how websites were made and their potential, even though no one was yet using them that much – at least locally; hey, we were still on dial-up! I read on how to create a website using Microsoft Word on Windows 98, then created some websites using the once famous GeoCities, and Yahoo! free hosting. I needed something to help me learn more though, finding it hard to believe that inputting each item individually in HTML for an online shop to be the only option. I sent an email to two businesses – Storm Design, who’s owner is now a good friend of mine, and another local business. Storm emailed me and explained to me how to host websites using FTP, and we soon where handling some opportunities together. The other local company emailed me with the site http://www.w3schools.com/ which helped me to start learning all about PHP and MySql.
My Motivation?
Personal improvement and success. That is what drives me. Being able to achieve more and reach more, learn and advance in life, in work and in my education. With work, how I see it, having your product be used, help a company grow, be a contribution to the success of a business, even as an employee, provides a great sense of personal satisfaction and achievement. It is awesome having people seek you out and trust in you to get something done, and to get it done right. Being the one whose opinion they trust.
